Environmental Science started as a major of environmental planning and management in 1994 and became a separate major recognized by Ministry of Education in 1998. The department has 21 full-time teachers, including 5 professors, 7 associate professors and 6 lecturers; five second- -level disciplines for doctorate degree and master degree involving environmental science , environmental ecology, environmental chemistry ,environmental biology and the management and planning of resource environment. We pay attention to the training of International talents and offers courses taught in English by foreign teachers. The course named" Environmental Toxicology" has been certified as a demonstration curse for bilingual teaching in Yunnan Province. We have established long- -term cooperative relations with high-level foreign research institutions, and select outstanding teachers and students to study there every year. Up to now, more than 500 undergraduate students have graduated from the department.
